Police Seeking Man Who Escaped Despite Restraints

Police in Bozeman say a man who is a suspect in a rape and knife assault escaped from custody Saturday morning despite wearing leg shackles as well as a belly belt connected to handcuffs.

Police tell the Bozeman Daily Chronicle they're searching for 28-year-old Kevin A. Briggs after he fled the Law & Justice Center on foot at about 8 a.m.

Briggs is described as a 5-foot-5 white male of medium build.

Besides the restraints, he was last seen wearing a black or gray hooded coat with stripes, green pants and black shoes.
