There are plenty of Montana ties as Boise State takes on Arizona State in the Maaco Bowl in Las Vegas on Dec. 22.

Boise State freshman wide receiver Matt Miller and Arizona State junior quarterback Brock Osweiler are former Gatorade football players of the year from Montana. Miller graduated from Helena Capital High while Osweiler graduated from Flathead High in Kalispell.

Miller is averaging 54 yards receiving and eight touchdown catches for the Broncos (11-1), while Osweiler is averaging 303 yards passing per game and has thrown 24 TD passes for the Sun Devils (6-6).

ASU's roster also includes wide receiver Aaron Pflugrad, the son of Montana football coach Robin Pflugrad.

And outgoing Arizona State coach Dennis Erickson was a three-year letterman at Montana State from 1966-68 and was a two-time All-Big Sky Conference quarterback for the Bobcats.

He was a graduate assistant coach at Montana State in 1969 and coached MSU's offensive backfield from 1971-73.
