In a dramatic defensive struggle that went   down to the wire Saturday, the Missoula Phoenix extended their season with a 14-13 playoff win over the Bitterroot Blaze in Darby.

With just 9 seconds to play and the Phoenix up 14-7, the Blaze were facing a 4th and goal from the Missoula 1-yard line.  The Blaze scored on a short run, but instead of going for the tie and overtime, they gambled and went for the 2 point conversion and the win.
The Phoenix denied the attempt with a crushing hit by middle linebacker James DeCoteau, picked up the thrilling victory and advanced to the RMFL AA North Championship.
The Phoenix  (6-3) will travel to Great Falls to play the undefeated Gladiators (9-0) at 5pm this Saturday.
