One Man Dead, One Injured in Helena Hit and Run

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Authorities say one man died Sunday morning and another was seriously injured when they were hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in Helena, and that the driver fled the scene.

Helena Police Chief Troy McGee tells the Independent Record that one of the men was hit by two more vehicles on Custer Avenue and died at the scene. He was in his 50s.

The other man was taken to St. Peter’s Hospital.

Police say they don’t know what type of vehicle initially struck the men at about 12:30 a.m., but are looking for a vehicle with front end damage.

Names have not been released.
