Three individuals faced charges Wednesday before Judge Karen Orzech in Missoula Justice Court. 62 year-old John Elton Finney was charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony after allegedly providing a minor under the age of fifteen with marijuana on several occasions. Finney, a convicted sex offender, was also charged with failure to register as a sex offender in Missoula. Comments from Deputy Missoula County Attorney Andrew Paul about the charges against Finney are below. He was placed in the Missoula County Jail on $150,000 bond.

Another case involved 24 year-old Cody Downey who was charged with sexual intercourse without consent for allegedly raping a 14 year-old girl while the two were under the Orange Street bridge on May 18th. According to court documents, Downey admitted to Missoula Police detectives that he had raped the young girl. Downey is in the Missoula County jail on $150,000 bond.

The third case concerns 26 year-old Nicole Mary Benton, who was charged with felony criminal distribution of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute, along with three misdemeanors. Benton allegedly had hidden over 41 grams of methamphetamine, along with various other drugs and drug paraphernalia under the seat of a vehicle she had just purchased. Benton was placed in the Missoula County jail on $50,000 bond.
