It's time to get back to work for President Barack Obama after his Hawaiian vacation.

And with his return to the White House, he'll be aiming to set the agenda for the new year on his terms.

He faces newly emboldened Republicans who feel their victory in November's elections give them a mandate to rein in Obama.

As the president closed out 2014, he was energized by a series of high-profile moves in the final six weeks of the year — namely on Cuba and immigration.

And he wants to carry that momentum into 2015.

Obama's is expected back in Washington on Sunday — and on Tuesday, Republicans will take over the new Congress and be ready to start confronting the president.
