Northern Wrestling Signs Three Heavyweight Champions

HAVRE, Mont. (AP) — Montana State-Northern coach Tyson Thivierge has announced the signing of three state heavyweight champion wrestlers.

Signing with the Lights recently were two-time Class AA heavyweight state champion Tucker Erickson of Helena High, Class A heavyweight champion Allen Neulib of Sidney and Oregon state heavyweight champion Travis Williams of Madras, Ore.

The Lights have also signed Tommy Cooper of Laurel, a two-time state runner-up.

Thivierge says Erickson is big and moves extremely well. His older brother, Toby, wrestled at Boise State and is now training at Northern Michigan. Toby Erickson finished fourth in the Greco Roman heavyweight class at the U.S. Olympic trials last weekend.

Thivierge tells the Havre Daily News he's bringing in talent that he feels can help Northern win another NAIA national championship.
