HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A newly formed political action committee already has spent more than $74,000 to support one Republican candidate in Montana's U.S. House race.

The Big Sky Freedom Fund filed a report with the Federal Election Commission Monday saying it spent that much to place ads backing former state Sen. Corey Stapleton.

The group also reported spending $9,000 for a Virginia firm to conduct a poll.

Big Sky Freedom Fund formed on April 15 as an independent expenditure-only committee, or super PAC.

Lee Newspapers of Montana reports the super PAC has the same Billings address as 47 North Communications, a Republican political consulting and governmental affairs firm.

Stapleton, Sens. Elsie Arntzen and Matt Rosendale, former Sen. Ryan Zinke and Drew Turiano of Helena are seeking the GOP House nomination.
