The Montana Down Syndrome Association will be hosting its 15th annual Buddy Walk this Sunday. Participant Alyssa Martin said that the walk is a great way for her to meet new people and see old friends.

"Well I am a young woman at 26 and I live on my own in a condo," Martin said. "I also do special Olympics and I work at  the YMCA. I am excited because I get to see a lot of people that I know and all of my friends."

As of Wednesday the walk was more than halfway toward reaching their fundraising goal of twenty five thousand dollars. According to Down Syndrome Association President Karen Bailey they have added another way participants can contribute to the cause.

"This year the one thing were doing different  is that there's also going to be a silent auction," Bailey said. "We have solicited donations from around town and we have some pretty exciting packages. Our primary focus is to provide financial aid for families who are facing extraordinary financial hardship typically due to medical issues."

The event will be held at Silver Park at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 25. Anyone wanting to register for the event can do so online here until Friday or in person at Zootown Brew this Saturday.
