Parts of Mount Jumbo that have been closed to hikers and their dogs for the winter will reopen on Thursday, March 15th. I spoke with City of Missoula Lands Specialist Morgan Valiant about the change on Wednesday. That interview is attached.

Valiant says parts of Mount Jumbo are closed each winter to keep humans from stressing out the elk herd that uses the area. Valiant says there have been no wolf sightings in the area, although several large coyotes have been spotted.
