BOSTON, MASS. (3/20/12) -- The University of Montana’s
Will Cherry has added another honor to his list of accolades from this season,
as he was one of 25 players named to the 2012 Lou Henson Mid-Major All-America
team today. The All-American list is one team consisting of twenty-five
players. Cherry was also recently selected to the 10-player
All-District VIII basketball team by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association
(USBWA).

Cherry, a 6-foot-1 junior guard from West Oakland,
Calif., was named the Big Sky Conference’s “Defensive Player of the Year,” and
was a unanimous first team all-league pick.  This past season he averaged 15.8
points, which ranked him fourth in the league.  He also averaged a
conference-high 2.6 steals per game, which currently ranks him sixth in the
nation.  He was named the Big Sky’s “Player of the Week” three times in the
2011-12 season for the 25-7 Grizzlies.  He was ranked seventh (tie) in the
league in assists (3.3 apg), ninth in assist/turnover ratio (+1.2), and
10th in the league in free throw percentage (.781).
