BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — Montana State men's basketball coach Brad Huse has announced the signing of 6-foot-9 forward Paul Egwuonwu (uh-GWOUN'-woo) of Boise, Idaho.

Egwuonwu transfers to MSU from the College of Southern Idaho, where he averaged 4.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in helping the team to a 31-win season and an eighth-place finish at the NJCAA national tournament.

Huse says Egwounwu was part of a balanced team at one of the most successful programs in the country. Huse says he played the role he was asked to play last season, but MSU will look to him to be a more productive and assertive player.

He played just one season at CSI in Twin Falls after transferring from Northwest Nazarene, where he averaged 10 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a freshman.

Egwounwu played at Boise's Capital High, where he set an Idaho record by hitting 10 3-point field goals in a 2009 state tournament game.
