A Montana man faces felony charges after reportedly trying to fire a gun into the apartment of a female acquaintance.

The Montana Standard reports 24-year-old Kyle Sholey of Butte was charged with attempted deliberate homicide and felony assault with a weapon on Wednesday. His bail was set at $100,000.

Police say Sholey tried to force himself into the apartment on May 1. The woman and her boyfriend were able to keep him out, but he did get the gun through the doorway.

The victims said Sholey pulled the trigger several times but the gun did not fire.

Responding officers found Sholey near his vehicle with a gunshot wound to his face. Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester said he thought Sholey may have tried to kill himself. His injuries were not life-threatening.
