The Montana Highway Patrol is currently accepting applications for ten new Troopers to begin training in April 2016.

MHP is the traffic law enforcement division of the Montana Department of Justice and is responsible for the enforcement of motor vehicle and highway safety laws according to state and federal statutes, as well as for the investigation of traffic crashes.

Anastasia Burton, spokesperson for Attorney General Tim Fox, said the new troopers are needed due to retirement and attrition.

"We always have people who are coming and going," Burton said. "So, twice a year we open up the recruitment process. There is no upper age limit, but you must be at least 18 to apply. It's a really good career path for those who are interested in public service and who can adhere to a high code of athics."

Burton said applications are available on the Attorney General's website. The deadline to apply is October 14, 2015.
