Buzzing distractions for drivers aren't always electronic.

The Billings Gazette newspaper reports that for one driver near Missoula earlier this month, it was bees. The Montana Highway Patrol received a call about noon May 22 from a motorist who saw another car weaving all over the road that seemed to be filled with bees. It was — troopers stopped the vehicle and found five hives, thousands of insects, and a driver who said his honeybees were harmless.

Troopers contacted the state apiarist, who told them that though the driver hadn't chosen the safest way to move bees, he needed no permits to transport them through the state.

Troopers cited the driver for careless driving.
