Leaves are already starting to change colors as Montana heads into fall and campgrounds around the region will begin shutting down services here in the near future. Chet Crowser with Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks has details.

"Our water will all be shut off at those campgrounds on October first," Crowser said. "Beaver Tail Hill will stay open through October. We'll close that one down in November and there will be electricity available at the sites. Placid and Salmon up in the Seeley area will also be shutting down their systems here at the end of the month."

Crowser said that some sites will close down entirely for overnight camping.

"We will move into the fall primitive season," Crowser said. "Salmon campground closes entirely. The day use does stay open until December first and the Placid campground stays open until December first as well. At the sites with lakes, we've got docks in the water pretty much as long as we can keep them there before the lakes freeze up."
