Just after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, 9-1-1 received a report of a trailer fire in the Futura Trailer Court on Highway 10 West.

Crews from Missoula Rural Fire responded to the blaze. Assistant Chief Brent Christofferson said on Tuesday morning that the fire started underneath the trailer.

"The fire has already spread to the structure itself," Christofferson said. "The fire had damaged some of the floor in one of the bedrooms of the trailer. Missoula county sheriff's deputies were able to use some portable fire extinguishers to knock down the fire as the call went out to the 9-1-1 center."

Christofferson said firefighters took over after arriving on the scene.

"Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to the trailer, and the floor of the trailer without it spreading any further," Christofferson said. "They did determine that the point of origin was near the outside of the trailer in the bark and other materials in the planting bed. What caused the bark to catch fire has not yet been determined, but it appears to be an accidental fire."

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured in the incident. No estimate of damage was provided.
