UPDATE - Monday, May 12, 4:00 p.m.

The Missoula County Coroner has released the name of the woman killed in a house fire on Sunday night as Karen Louis Miller, 68, of Missoula.

According to Missoula Rural Fire officials, Miller was a resident in the home that suffered a fire on Sunday evening. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A Missoula woman has died after a house fire on Mullan Road.

Assistant Chief Chris Newman with Missoula Rural Fire said the call came in to 9-1-1 at 8:40 p.m. on Sunday night.

"Missoula Rural Fire received a call regarding a structure fire located in the 6000 block of Mullan Road," Newman said. "Along with that call, we were also notified that a female was outside of the residence, and that bystanders were doing CPR at the time."

Unfortunately, the emergency efforts to save the woman's life were unsuccessful.

"Despite the heroic efforts of the bystanders and the Missoula Rural Firefighters and EMT's the patient succumbed to her injuries after being transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead," Newman said. "Her name and age are being withheld until notification of family members."

Newman confirmed that the deceased woman did reside at the home on Mullan Road.

He said firefighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly, and it was primarily contained to the bedroom where the woman was found. In addition, there were three other individuals at the scene who were transported to local hospitals where they were treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation.
