A brutal beating of a Missoula teenager near Sentinel High School early Thursday morning, March 19, has resulted in a police investigation that has turned up few leads.

"We received a report from the Assistant Principal at about 10 a.m. who had talked with a group of students who had reported that a fellow student had been beaten up near the intersection of Sussex and Central near Bow Street, near a city park," said Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh. "The male had significant facial injuries and may have been unconscious at one point."

The 16 year old male was taken to the hospital for care, but it is still unclear who beat him up or why.

"We are currently trying to discover what exactly happened," Welsh said. "We are seeking out any witnesses that could tell us anything about this and would ask them to call Detective Bob Franke at the Police Department. "

As of Friday, March 20, Welsh said that detectives didn't "have any information on suspects" and was unable to confirm if one or more than one individual was being sought.
