Missoula Police are still trying to find information about a passenger that ran away from the scene of a vehicle crash on Tuesday morning. Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh says it is unclear why the passenger ran away instead of cooperating with police.

"The male that ran from the initial stop of the vehicle is described as a white male, he was said to be short in stature, a little heavy set he had brown hair and is said to have been wearing a light brown jacket, like a Carhartt. He is still at large and we do not have a good identity on him at this point."

When the suspect got out of the car, a loaded firearm fell out of the vehicle, which police are still investigating. Two other passengers spoke with police, but have not told police the identity of the third passenger.

"Those two have been identified, they've been interviewed one is an 18-year-old male, one is a 19-year-old male," Welsh said. "They both cooperated with the officers, they came down to the station and did interviews. One of the males, 18-year-old Michael Martin was arrested for possession of a concealed weapon after officers learned that he had a pair of brass knuckles in his pocket."

The driver of the vehicle was in court yesterday after a long pursuit that ended with a foot chase after the driver crashed on Harve Avenue.
