The identity of a Missoula man killed in a traffic accident in the Bitterroot valley has been released.

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman says 48 year-old John. A. Laux was found dead in his overturned vehicle in an irrigation canal on the Eastside Highway near Victor Crossing.

The medical examiner determined that Laux, who was wearing a seat belt, drowned inside the overturned vehicle. The sheriff’s report did not mention either alcohol or speed as factors in the fatal crash.
