48 year-old Darrell James Twite appeared in Missoula Justice Court Tuesday afternoon before Judge Karen Orzech and was charged with two felony counts of sexual intercourse without consent, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault and resisting arrest.

According to court documents, Twite allegedly sexually assaulted two girls, one who was only 11 years-old, over a period from 2001 until the present. Deputy Missoula County Attorney Shaun Donovan says the charges are very serious, in that the sexual intercourse without consent counts carry a maximum penalty of life in prison. Donovan says the young girls involved in the abuse are receiving counseling. Twite is in the MIssoula County Jail on $100,000 bond.
