22 year-old Marcus Deutsch appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Monday charged with felony aggravated assault after allegedly beating a woman so severely, that her neck was broken.

Chief Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jason Marks said Deutsch was arrested over the weekend.

"Mr. Deutsch made his initial appearance yesterday on a charge of felony aggravated assault," Marks said. "He appeared in front of substitute Justice of the Peace Shane Vannatta, who set his bail at $100,000. On October 12th, Mr. Deutsch very seriously assaulted a woman, leaving her with some pretty significant facial injuries and a broken neck."

Bail was set at $100,000 and Deutsch was remanded back to the Missoula County Jail.

Felony aggravated assault carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
