The Missoula Police Department and the Missoula County Sheriff's Office are presenting the Battle of the Badges blood drive on behalf of the American Red Cross today, Monday, September 16 from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Paige Pavalone said today is the second annual Battle of the Badges blood drive.

"Representatives from the American Red Cross approached us and said that September is usually a very slow month for blood donations, and that this month has been exceptionally slow," Pavalone said. "A blood-mobile is set up on the west side of the Missoula County courthouse where members of both the police and sheriff's departments will be donating blood."

Pavalone said everyone is welcome to come downtown and donate blood during Monday's drive.

"This is open to anyone who's willing and able to donate blood, and the drive goes from 2:30  till 7:30 p.m. Monday night," Pavalone said. "You can make an appointment online, or you can just show up. You don't need an appointment, they'll  make room for you, if you can just walk in. They're hoping for a good turnout today."
