Missoula County Sheriff Carl Ibsen issued a news release Thursday morning stating that a Deputy Sheriff has been terminated for having an inappropriate and perhaps unlawful relationship with a 17 year-old girl.
Missoula County Sheriff’s spokesman Jason Johnson says a complaint was filed against Deputy Larry Schwindt, who has been with the department for two and a half years.
Ibsen says there are two concurrent investigations, administrative, and one looking into whether any potential criminal charges may be filed.
Ibsen says the public trust is of the utmost important to the sheriff’s office, therefore, he says the public has the right to know when and if a member of the department violates that trust.
