The Missoula County Attorney’s Office handled a wide variety of cases over the past week including everything from assault to DUI. Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst explains…

"We had nine new cases that we opened [this week]," said Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst. "We had two fugitives from justice and three DUIs, one of the DUI cases was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon at a local bar. We had a failure to register as a violent offender, and a family member assault case"

Pabst says one of the most significant cases involves an identity theft ring.

"We had two identity theft arrests, which were significant because they were part of what we would call a fairly large criminal ring that involved over 100 victims. This case finally came to fruition and we've got two of the offenders in custody."

Pabst says there may even be more people charged in relation to the identity theft ring, which obtained private information on Missoulians by breaking into cars and mailboxes across town.
