Several weeks ago a technician fell while working inside 'Griz Vision', the giant screen at Washington Grizzly stadium and needed to be rescued by a Missoula fire department crew.

On Thursday, Missoula city fire crews returned to the stadium to recreate that rescue scenario in a training exercise.

Senior firefighter/paramedic Philip Keating said crews spent several hours using various equipment and techniques to initiate a successful rescue inside the confined space of the 'Griz Vision' enclosure. They used special high-angle rescue gear coming in from the top of the enclosure with the ladder truck to gain access.

Keating says crews train about once a month in various venues, trench rescue, water rescue, high and low angle rescue, and wilderness rescue, as well.

Keating said the University of Montana was instrumental in allowing city fire crews access to the stadium and 'Griz Vision' for their specialized training.
