Jerry McConnell is a Missoula businessman who decided to run for the United States Senate after years of watching Congress spend the country into economic trouble. McConnell says his first official bill if elected, would be a balanced budget amendment.

McConnell is one of two Libertarians who have filed to run for the Senate. Dan Cox of Hamilton is also a candidate. Many pundits predict that the two Libertarian candidates will draw votes away from the Republican, U. S. Representative Denny Rehberg as he battles the incumbent Democrat Jon Tester. Both Libertarian candidates will appear on the general election ballot, thanks to a decision by the Montana Secretary of State to bypass the primary, due to the excessive cost of adding their names. My interview with Mr. McConnell is attached.
