A man wanted for allegedly violating the terms of his probation for a Montana prostitution conviction is jailed in Texas.

29-year-old Terrence Tyrell Edwards was arrested in Austin, Texas on Thursday after investigators tracked him to a motel there using cellphone records.

Deputy Missoula County Deputy Prosecutor Kirsten Pabst LaCroix says Edwards sent a pit bull out to attack the officers who knocked on the door, while he tried to jump out a window. Officers shot the dog and arrested Edwards.

Edwards was given a five-year suspended sentence last year after pleading guilty to promoting prostitution in Missoula.

His younger brother, Leroy, was in court in Missoula on Wednesday on a charge of promoting prostitution in a separate case.
