BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — The Gallatin County sheriff's office says a man was arrested after alcohol was determined to be a factor in a crash that ended with his car in the Gallatin River about 30 miles south of Bozeman.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the car was northbound on U.S. Highway 191 Sunday afternoon when the driver lost control and went off the road near a bridge over the Gallatin River. The car entered the water and floated about 100 yards downriver before coming to a rest.

Officials received a 911 call shortly after 5:30 p.m. from a passing motorist.

Responding deputies provided the man with a personal flotation device while search and rescue launched a boat.

The man's name was not released.
