Early Tuesday morning, August 19, a man reportedly nearly lost his foot while trespassing in the Montana Rail Link train yard.

According to NBC Montana, the man was 22-years-old, and needed a tourniquet to stop the bleeding when emergency responders reached him.

Montana Rail Link was not able to confirm the identity or age of the individual that was injured, nor were they able to confirm that he was actually hit by a train.

"At approximately 2:30 a.m. Montana Rail Link had a west-bound grain train parked in the Missoula yard," said MRL Public Information Officer Lynda Frost. "That train was pulling out of the yard when, apparently, there was a trespasser that was in the process of trying to get through the train and at that time, apparently, became injured when the train pulled forward."

Frost said that the injured individual was not noticed by the crew driving the grain train and that another crew located the man about 15 minutes later and called in the emergency.

"Montana Rail Link is adamant about the safety of the public, and adamant about keeping people away from our operations. We take trespassing very seriously."

It is not clear how severe the man's injuries are, or if he was able to fully recover.
