A 19 year-old man on probation made several poor decisions early Friday morning when he was spotted in a local tavern by Missoula police.

Sergeant Casey Richardson said Preston Peterson fled the scene.

"At about 2 o'clock this morning, one of the probation officers was doing a standard check at a local watering hole when he spotted one of our probationers, and when he went to make contact, that probationer took off on foot," Richardson said.

Richardson said the story doesn't end there, as Peterson allegedly fled a second time.

"That 19 year-old young man went home, and before they could get to his house he was fleet of foot and he took off," he said. "Officer Cameron was able to get him on the cell phone, and after a short visit, was able to get him to come down and turn himself in."

Richardson said it was all's well that end well.

"It was a good morning when nobody had to wrestle with anybody, and everybody went home safe."

Peterson will appear in Missoula Justice Court on Friday afternoon.
