A 70-year-old Washington state man faces at least eight years in prison for the February 2011 robbery of a US Bank branch in Lewiston and pointing a gun at officers trying to track down the robber.

David Payton of Clarkston, Wash., was sentenced Monday to five years to life for the robbery and a fixed three years for aggravated assault.

Second District Judge Jeff M. Brudie said he did not take into consideration Payton's age or the fact that he was shot nine times in handing down the sentence.

Payton is released, he will be on parole for the rest of his life.
