BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A 43-year-old Billings man has been arrested on suspicion of a string of church and business burglaries in Stillwater County.

The Billings Gazette reports a deputy arrested John Chambers at 3:30 a.m. Friday near a church in Reed Point. Sheriff Cliff Brophy says the church and bar had been broken into.

The arrest follows a string of similar crimes earlier in the week in Stillwater County. Six burglaries were reported Wednesday in Rapelje, including the school, a church and the post office.

On Tuesday, police in Columbus received a report that cash and checks were stolen from a lock box at a church.

Chambers faces seven counts of felony burglary, seven counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief and two counts of misdemeanor theft.
