The Missoula County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that two people were found shot to death on Monday afternoon west of Lolo.

Public Information Officer Brenda Bassett said deputies were called to a cabin behind Roper's Lounge on Highway 12 late Monday afternoon on a report of shots fired, where a man had barricaded himself inside one of the cabins, however, a negotiator with the sheriff’s office talked him into surrendering..

Bassett said deputies entered the cabin to find two people deceased, one male and one female. Both had been shot to death.

Bassett said the unidentified man is in custody and was being questioned by detectives, but no arrests have yet been made. She said deputies and detectives have been at the scene all night gathering evidence, and more details will be made available later on Tuesday morning.

No other details were available, and no names have been released.
