Wildfire crews responded to several small fires along Interstate 90 near the Idaho state line Friday night after a lightning storm.

At around 4 p.m. yesterday, NBC Montana reports lightning sparked five small fires in the St. Regis area. The Plains Dispatch Center said the fires are located between mile marker 6 on I-90, and St. Regis.

Firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service and area rural fire departments are responding to the blazes. Crews are hopeful the extra rain will be of assistance in containing the blazes through the weekend.

It is unknown at this time whether any structures are threatened. More information will be updated as it becomes available.
