Lewis And Clark County Sheriff’s Shooting Investigation Continues.

The investigation into a shooting death in Lewis and Clark County continues. Sheriff Leo Dutton said on Monday that at least fourteen shots were fired. Forensic evidence is still being examined in the case. Lewis and clark county officials say the Helena man who was shot after shooting at sheriff’s deputies Sunday night may have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Coroner Mickey Nelson says that there are still many questions over the death of Jeffrey John Lefferdink.

Nelson says that Lefferdink had three potentially fatal wounds, including one to his head.

Officials say Lefferdink was on the phone with his wife at the time of his death, just after 11:30 sunday night. Nelson says an inquest into the shooting is underway. Sheriff leo dutton says the three deputies involved in the shootout were not injured, and are on administrastive leave.
