Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Friday and Saturday in Missoula [AUDIO]

Law enforcement personnel will be joining together Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4 to carry the Flame of Hope through Missoula County on its way to the Special Olympics State Games in Billings on May 15.

Missoula County Sheriff's department spokesman Jason Johnson said Wednesday he had been involved with the torch run for many years.

"On Friday morning, we'll be starting up on the county line near Condon and bring the torch into Missoula," Johnson said. "Then, officers from Ravalli County will be meeting us at Murdock's on Reserve Street at 5 p.m."

Johnson said the Missoula Police Department is also participating the the Torch Run.

Then, on Saturday, the police department will begin their leg of the run, and they'll take it from Missoula out to Drummond," Johnson continued. "They'll pass the torch on to other law enforcement personnel, who will take it all the way to Billings for the start of the Special Olympics State Games on May 15."

Johnson said he and his fellow law enforcement personnel will be tough to miss out on the highway.

"We'll have a big Class A motor home that's been provided to us by Bretz RV, so we certainly appreciate their partnership," Johnson said. "Mountain West Cenex is providing the fuel for the motor home, as well, so lots of folks are stepping up to help out Special Olympics."

Donations to the Special Olympics will be accepted at the Missoula Pollice Department and the Missoula County Sheriff's Department, or online at the Montana Special Olympics website.
