A 70-year-old Laurel man who was arrested for his 14th drunken-driving offense in October, while on probation for his 13th DUI, has been sentenced to three years in state custody.

The Billings Gazette reports District Judge Susan Watters sentenced William Bernard Bergin on Thursday to serve 10 years in the custody of the Department of Corrections, with seven suspended for the 14th DUI. She gave him a five-year suspended sentence for violating his probation on his 13th DUI, which he received in 2008.

Bergin was arrested Oct. 26, 2010, after police received a report of an intoxicated man in a parking lot. The officer found Bergin passed out on the seat of a pickup truck.
