BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — The Montana Highway Patrol is crediting a 53-year-old Laurel man with saving the life of a motorist whose car crashed and caught fire southwest of Billings.

Rusty Allee was driving home at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday when he spotted a car on fire on the side of the road.

Allee told The Billings Gazette that he pulled over, called 911 and walked up to the car, where he saw a man inside.

Allee pulled the man out through the broken driver's side window and dragged him about 30 feet away. When he turned around, the car was fully engulfed in flames.

Trooper Brian Sampson says he intends to nominate Allee for an award for saving the driver's life.

Sampson says the driver, 33-year-old Zachary Brown, faces a felony drunken driving charge.
