The Montana women’s basketball team will open the 2013 portion of its 2012-13 schedule with a road trip to Eastern Washington. The Lady Griz and Eagles tip off at Reese Court in Cheney, Washington on Thursday, January 3 at 7 p.m.

One of the more interesting factors of the game will be the back story  to player Lexie Nelson. The 5′ 6″ point guard began her career at Montana as a true freshman in 2010 -11. She started six of that season’s first nine games and finished the year with 31 assists and a scoring average of 3.3.

After the season she opted to move on and took her talents to Eastern Washington. Her breakup with the Montana program was peppered with acrimony, which should add to the feistiness of Thursday’s game.
