The University Of Montana Lady Griz found another way to get a win on Saturday. The Lady Griz utilized a potent offensive attack leading to a 77-70 win over Weber State. Montana had six players score in double digits. The contest was played at Dahlberg Arena in front of 2,872 fans.
Montana jumped out to an early 8-2 behind the hot shooting of Alyssa Smith. Smith scored a career high 13 points. The Wildcats then caught fire and went on a 9-2 scoring run to take a 11-10 lead. The Lady Griz went on a 17-0 scoring run of their own with just under 9 minutes left in the first half. Montana led 39-28 at halftime.
The Lady Griz extended their lead to 48-33 with early in the second-half. The Wildcats would cut the deficit to 68-63 with 4:19 left, but could get no closer. Montana would rely on the mainstay solid defense and accurate free-throw shooting during the final minutes to seal the victory.
Katie Baker led Montana with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kenzie De Boer added 15 points, Alyssa Smith 13, Kellie Cole 11, and Torry Hill and Jordy Sullivan with 10 points apiece in fueling the Lady Griz offense. The win improved Montana’s record to 10-7 and 3-1 in Big Sky standings. The Lady Griz will be on the road Thursday to play Northern Colorado.
