The Hamilton School Board selected Thomas Korst to be the new Hamilton School District 3 Superintendent.

The decision was made at Monday evening’s special school board meeting and Korst has already been offered the contract. Officials say he has accepted the position.

Korst was picked from a field of four finalists including James Baldwin, Robert Conners and Robert Lewandowski. The four met with the public and underwent a public interview process earlier in January with the school board.

Korst currently is assistant superintendent at the Havre Public Schools in Havre, MT. Prior to that, he was principal at Seeley-Swan High School and has also been principal at the Seeley-Swan elementary school.

He is a graduate of Western Montana College and has a masters from the University of Montana and is working on his doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Current Hamilton school superintendent Duby Santee is retiring this year, which led to the search for a replacement.
