State Senator Kim Gillan announced Today that she will run for Montana’s at-large congressional seat in the November 2012 election, and has pledged effective leadership to move Montana forward.

Gillan, who works at Montana State University-Billings, has served in the state Legislature since 1997.

Gillan joins the race against two other Democrats: Montana State Representative Franke Wilmer of Bozeman and Missoula City Councilman Dave Strohmaier (who will be a guest on Talkback on Tuesday the 28th) Currently, Bozeman resident Steve Daines is the only Republican candidate who has entered the race. Former Ku Klux Klan organizer John Abarr of Great Falls says he also will be running on the GOP side, but has not been able to raise money or garner support from the Republican establishment.
