Markus Kaarma, the man convicted in the shotgun slaying of a 17 year-old German exchange student who had trespassed in his garage, will spend the next 70 years in Montana State Prison. 

Kaarma's attorney Paul Ryan said an appeal to the Montana Supreme Court is being prepared.
