Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body and stops people from moving. The National MS Society states every hour in the United States, someone is diagnosed with MS which is unpredictable and a disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms can range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. 21 Walk MS events are taking place this spring across 3 states, including 6 in Montana. Executive Vice President of Development for National MS Society Tirza Sanchez-Shaw details the events’ importance.

More than 400,000 people in the U.S. live with M-S. Sanchez-Shaw says walkers gather to meet the Chapter’s goal of raising over $2 million dollars to support programs and services.

Walk MS in Missoula will take place at McCormick Park this Saturday, May 21st.
