Is This the Most Frightening Political Ad?
When a horror movie wants to get to the viewer’s heart, there are few easier ways than to feature a child in danger or to play haunting children’s tunes in the background.
Apparently, Obama re-election supporters Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, have taken notes and used the technique to make the above ad which hopes to scare voters away from Romney.
Perhaps more frighting, in my opinion, is the self-interest involved in the ad. You see, Goodby, Silverstein and Partners receives money taken from the nations milk makers by force of law (the Dairy Act) in order to produce a variety of “Got Milk” adds to encourage more consumerism.
This government contract might sound like a good deal for some, but not everyone agrees. Some feel that the ads are an infringement of free speech. Thomas Jefferson, would likely be one of those people.
“[T]o compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical.” – Thomas Jefferson
