Missoula County Commissioners have appointed Missoula County Chief Deputy Treasurer Kim Seeberger to fill the remaining six months of Vickie Zeier’s term as Clerk & Recorder/Treasurer.

Since she is already the chief deputy treasurer, Seeberger said the added duties will come with being the clerk and recorder, as well.

"I'll be managing documents that need to be recorded, as well as other filings," Seeberger said. "I'm in my 13th year working for the county, and I've worked that whole time in the treasurer's office. Right now, I'm managing a staff of over 20 employees, and the main duties of the treasurers department was to do motor vehicle transactions, titles, registrations and renewals. On the tax side, we deal with real estate, personal property and mobile home taxes."

Seeberger says the commissioners have separated the election duties from the clerk and recorder's office.

"That is now a position that the commissioners will be putting out a posting on," Seeberger said. "They'll be looking to hire an elections administrator very soon."

Seeberger expects a smooth transition to her new position.

"I have worked together with the clerk and recorder many times in the past, and I will need to learn their Eagle system in order to better understand the job," Seeberger said. "Both sides have a great staff, and so I think the transition will be very smooth."

The appointment begins Monday and concludes on November 18th, 2014 upon certification of the general election. The Commissioners interviewed three external and two internal candidates for the position and asked each of them to outline their customer service, accounting, document management, real estate transaction, personnel management, and budgeting experience.
