Rescuers have carried an injured hiker down the popular "M'' trail outside Bozeman.

Authorities say the 61-year-old woman hurt her ankle on Friday and was unable to walk. Rescuers took her to the trailhead on a one-wheel litter, and a private vehicle took her to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

The woman's name wasn't immediately released.

The trail leads large "M'' made up of whitewashed rocks on a mountainside above Bozeman.

Gallatin County Sheriff's Search and Rescue, American Medical Response and the Bridger Canyon Fire Department responded.
