Work crews will be very busy this summer as changes are made to the Silver Park riverfront neighborhood between Russell and Orange Streets.

The City of Missoula's Redevelopment Agency will be completing a city park, as well as extending Wyoming Street from the civic stadium to Orange Street.Agency director Ellen Buchanan, director said Friday that extending Wyoming Street will relieve traffic congestion on South Third Street and even on West Broadway.

Construction has already begun and will be disrupting travel on the Rattlesnake and Bitterroot branch trails.

The project is being funded by $5.7 million dollars in tax-increment revenue bonds sold recently.

Some of the work the project encompasses include building Wyoming Street from the end of Cregg Lane to California Street, completing its connection from Russell to Orange, replacing the railroad trestle, and completing Silver Park.

Students from the Missoula College will be working with heavy equipment in the area, getting real-world work experience.
